MicroPort® Orthopedics' First Chinese-made Total Hip Arthroplasty System Receives NMPA Approval

Shanghai, China - Suzhou MicroPort® OrthoRecon Co., Ltd., which is a subsidiary of MicroPort® Orthopedics, recently received a registration certificate for its independently developed Goral™ Total Hip Arthroplasty System from National Medical Products Administration of China (“NMPA”). Goral™ Total Hip Arthroplasty System has become the first Chinese-made total hip arthroplasty system of MicroPort® Orthopedics to be granted the approval.

Goral™ Total Hip Arthroplasty System is composed of one model of acetabular cup and three models of hip stems. The system can provide various product portfolios to meet the demands of most Chinese patients and improve the flexibility of procedures. The system can be used in combination with MicroPort® Orthopedics’ unique SuperPATH® total hip arthroplasty. In SuperPATH® total hip arthroplasty, the system is implanted with a small incision to shorten time of operation, decrease intra-operative loss of blood, and improve post-operative stability. Meanwhile, the restrictions to the post-operative motions of patients can be reduced, with post-operative recovery expedited and the post-operative satisfaction of patients increased. On the whole, the system can offer the Chinese patients with hip diseases a complete solution that fits the Asian population.

Director Jun Xie, who is from Zhenjiang First People’s Hospital and the rotating chairman of SuperPATH® Super+User 100 Cases Club, said, “The hip devices of MicroPort® Orthopedics can be used in all primary hip arthroplasties.” The approval for Goral™ Total Hip Arthroplasty System will undoubtedly further expedite the promotion and application of the SuperPATH® technique, which from the perspective of health economy can also cut hospitals’ management cost regarding beds and medications to deploy medical resources with high efficiency and serve more patients.

MicroPort® Orthopedics China President Robin Weng said, “The first approved Chinese-made total hip arthroplasty system of MicroPort® Orthopedics can provide orthopedic devices of various models and specifications. Apart from the increased flexibility of procedures, the classic implant designs can match the medullary cavity anatomies of Chinese patients much better. The Goral™ Total Hip Arthroplasty System is a new solution that can give patients a real post-operative feeling of a hip ‘as comfortable as before’. The approval for the system, together with the launches of Chinese-made Aspiration® and SoSuperior™ total knee arthroplasty systems in 2019, symbolized that MicroPort® Orthopedics has finalized the basic line-up of Chinese-made joint devices. In the future, we will further improve MicroPort® Orthopedics’ product range of Chinese-made joint devices and always dedicate ourselves to the development and promotion of emerging orthopedic techniques, rationales and products, so that we will be able to provide patients and doctors with more integrated therapeutic solutions of high quality and accessibility.”
