Shanghai, China, 23 April, 2021— Shanghai MicroPort Medical (Group) Co., Ltd. (“MicroPort®”), a subsidiary of MicroPort Scientific Corporation (00853.HK), was named an “education base” by the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) Institute of Executive Development at an unveiling ceremony, held in Shanghai on April 7, 2021. Furong Li, Director of the NMPA Institute of Executive Development, and Shuting Guo, Deputy Director of Shanghai Medical Products Administration, attended the ceremony and were presented with a plaque to mark the award. MicroPort® is one of the first seven entities awarded the title of “Medical Device Education Base”.
The NMPA Institute of Executive Development is an authoritative and professional education and training institution in the field of medical product supervision in China. In 2020, the Institute selected 15 enterprises as education bases for different areas, including pharmaceutical products and medical devices, to enhance the professional qualification and legal awareness of practitioners in the field of drug supervision, as well as strengthen their sense of responsibility and expand their horizons. These education bases, which are carefully selected from institutions nominated by local drug administrations, will provide practical training for supervisory professionals in their respective fields, further enhancing the professionalism of China’s drug and medical device supervision.

MicroPort® has previously been named “Training Base for Medical Device Inspectors” by Shanghai Municipal Drug Administration, and a “Double-Hundred Top Inspectors” training base for professional pharmaceutical inspectors by the Center for Drug Inspection of Zhejiang Province. To date, MicroPort® has held eight training sessions for drug regulatory departments at national, provincial and city levels, building the capacity of more than 300 medical device inspectors. The designation as an educational base under the NMPA Institute of Executive Development fully demonstrates that the mode of operation for medical device inspection and the specialized training system provided by MicroPort® have been recognized by national regulatory authorities.
