Dr. Yingyao Chen, born in 1968, was appointed as an Independent Non-Executive Director on 30 June 2026.
Dr. Chen is an expert in health technology assessment and hospital management. Dr. Chen currently serves as a Professor and Vice Dean of the School of Public Health, Fudan University, Director of the Key Laboratory of Health Technology Assessment of the National Health Commission, Director of the World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for Health Technology Assessment, Chairman of the Health Technology Assessment Professional Committee of the China Medicinal Biotech Association, Chairman of the Health Technology Assessment and Policy Research Professional Committee of the China Association for Medical Devices Industry, Vice Chairman of the Health Technology and Economic Evaluation Professional Committee of the China Health Economics Association, and Vice President of Shanghai Association for Maternal and Child Health and Improving Birth Outcome and Child Development.
Dr. Chen has long been engaged in research in health technology assessment, hospital management and public health programme evaluation. He has led a number of research projects of the World Health Organization, the World Bank, the National Health Commission, the National Healthcare Security Administration, among others. Dr. Chen has served as chief editor of a number of national core textbooks, and has published extensively as first author or corresponding author in domestic and international core journals, including the British Medical Journal. From 1991 to 1999, Dr. Chen served as an Assistant Professor and Lecturer at the School of Public Health of Shanghai Medical University. From 1999 to 2001, he was a visiting scholar at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health. Dr. Chen returned to the School of Public Health of Fudan University in 2001.
Dr. Chen obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Master’s degree in Medicine from Shanghai Medical University in 1991 and 1997, respectively, and obtained his Doctoral degree in Management from Fudan University in 2006.
