Shanghai, China, December 31, 2021 — Shanghai MicroPort MedBot (Group) Co., Ltd. (MicroPort® MedBot®) has announced the official launch of its independently-developed Toumai® Mobile Showing & Training Center (MSTC, Toumai® Mobile Platform). Executives from MicroPort® and MicroPort® MedBot® were joined by a number of high profile professionals at the launch event, which took place at the MicroPort® headquarters in Shanghai.
The MicroPort® Toumai® Mobile Platform is a vehicle-mounted platform, which houses the Toumai® Laparoscopic Surgical Robot. The Platform provides full support for training and presentation of the laparoscopic robot, supplying the power, consumables and maintenance support needed. The Toumai® Mobile Platform allows healthcare professionals to access, experience, and understand domestic surgical robots without having to travel long distances.
The event was attended by many industry leaders, including Mr. Liu Dai, Chairman of the Financial and Economic Committee of Shanghai Municipal People's Congress and President of Shanghai Robot Industry Association, Mr. Weimin Yang, Deputy Director of Zhangjiang Economic Development Department, and Ms. Yao Xiao, Deputy Secretary-General of Shanghai Robot Industry Association.
Mr. Dai expressed his expectations for the development of MicroPort® MedBot® during the launch event, commenting, “The National 14th Five-Year Plan, which encourages the development of intelligent manufacturing and the robotics industry, will spur the development of highly competitive robotic companies, leading to prosperity in the robotic industry in Shanghai. The MicroPort® Toumai® Mobile Platform is not just a training center but also an exhibition center that provides patients and hospital staff with a great demonstration of leading robotic technologies and surgical solutions.”
By alleviating the severe shortage of training options for surgical robot operation and providing easier access to training, the Platform will contribute to the upskilling of a large number of Chinese surgeons. This will promote the standardization of surgical procedures, catalyzing a change in medical technologies and the medical service model, and thus will accelerate the development of affordable robotic surgeries.
