Shanghai, China, 29 October, 2020 – Shanghai MicroPort EP MedTech Co., Ltd. (“MicroPort® EP”) is pleased to announce that it has obtained approval from National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) for its proprietary Columbus™ 3D EP navigation system (“Columbus™ system”). This product is the first domestically made 3D EP navigation system based on electromagnetic duality.
Columbus™ system V3 can be used in conjunction with other MicroPort® products, such as FireMagic™ 3D Irrigated Ablation Catheter, EasyLoop™ 3D Circular Mapping Catheter, and EasyFinder™ 3D Steerable Curve Diagnostic Catheter, for accurate deployment and visualization of all types of intracardiac catheters. The Columbus™ system V3 is enhanced with an electric deployment unit that displays real time information to the surgeon as to the position and shape of catheter tips, better assisting diagnosis or guide operations while minimizing the exposure of X-ray to both patients and surgeons.
Arrhythmia is the main cause of sudden cardiac death. In recent years, the incidence of sudden cardiac death in China has been on the rise, and with younger patients increasing affected. According to data from the Study on the Epidemiological Status of Arrhythmias, there are now more than 10 million patients with arrhythmias in China. In the future, it is expected that more than 1.5 million patients will need to undergo radiofrequency ablation procedures every year in China. 1
