Changsha, China – From August 20 to August 21, the National Meeting of Extra-Corporeal Circulation & Youth Forum was held in Changsha of Hunan Province. Hosted by the Chinese Society of Extracorporeal Circulation and organized by the Second Xiangya Hospital of Central South University, the meeting attracted over 800 experts from China, US, Australia and Japan in the field of extracorporeal circulation, cardiovascular surgery and anesthesia. During the meeting, Dongguan Kewei Medical Instrument Co., Ltd. ("Dongguan Kewei"), a wholly owned subsidiary of Shanghai MicroPort Medical (Group) Co ("MicroPort®"), successfully hosted the Second Extracorporeal Circulation Story-sharing Session to share with the attendees the stories of hardship and glory in the development of China's extracorporeal circulation field.
Around 300 industry experts attended the Second Extracorporeal Circulation Story-sharing Session, with Professor Qixiang Wen of Tianjin Chest Hospital and Director Manrong Wu of the Second Xiangya Hospital of Central South University as the key note speakers to tell stories of the development in concept and technology of the extracorporeal circulation field. Professor Feilong Hei, Deputy Director of Extracorporeal Circulation Center of Fuwai Hospital of Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Chairman of Chinese Society of Extracorporeal Circulation, Professor Cun Long, Director of Extracorporeal Circulation Center of Fuwai Hospital of Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and former Chairman of Chinese Society of Extracorporeal Circulation, Professor Deming Zhu, Director of Extracorporeal Circulation Department of Shanghai Children's Medical Center and former Chairman of Chinese Society of Extracorporeal Circulation, were invited as guest speakers and made insightful comments on Professor Wen and Professor Wu's speeches, which was well received by attendees.
The "History Documentary of China's Extracorporeal Circulation Field," made by Dongguan Kewei, was broadcasted during the National Meeting of Extra-Corporeal Circulation. It showed the difficulties and achievements in the work of the older-generation extracorporeal circulation experts, as well as the blessings and prospects from 13 accomplished extracorporeal circulation experts regarding the future development of China's extracorporeal circulation field and medical device industry. Of the 13 experts, the oldest one – Professor Hongxi Su – is aged 102. The documentary attracted wide attention and was highly praised by many attendees.
