MicroPort® Orthopedics' International Shared Services Center in Costa Rica was recently inaugurated during a ceremony held at its new office in San José, the country’s capital city. The Costa Rica Site provides support for the global markets of MicroPort® Orthopedics.
The attendees of the ceremony included Ms. Dyalá Jiménez, who is Minister of Foreign Trade of Costa Rica, Ms. Pilar Madrigal, who is Head of Investment Promotion and Aftercare of Costa Rican Investment Promotion Agency (CINDE), Ms. Glendy Wang, who is Chief Operating Officer of MicroPort Scientific Corporation, Mr. Brad Ottinger, who is Vice President, General Counsel, Chief Administrative Officer, Secretary of MicroPort® Orthopedics, and Mr. Stephen Smith, who is General Manager in Costa Rica of MicroPort® Orthopedics.
The Costa Rica Site covers the following functions: Accounting and Finance, Purchasing, Customer Service, Human Resources, IT, Compliance and Quality. The R&D team will support product development and product updates while the Prophecy team will continue to support global markets. Each of the shared services groups will be fully integrated with their departments in Arlington, US, forming a partnership across borders.
The Costa Rica team of MicroPort® Orthopedics has grown to 55 employees recently after the establishment of the International Shared Service Center. The team will increase to approximately 65 employees by the end of 2020, which is set to provide high quality support for both Arlington and international offices of MicroPort® Orthopedics.
