Beijing, China – The 12th Annual Conference of Chinese Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons (CAOS 2019) was held in Beijing, China, on May 23, featuring scientific exchanges on more than 10 disciplines including joints, spine, trauma, and sports medicine. The international high-level continuing education courses were provided during the CAOS 2019 with the cooperation with the renowned scientific organizations such as AAOS, ASIA, NASS, HSS and ICJR, to have every doctor benefit from continuing education in orthopedics and help the attending doctors build up on professional expertise. MicroPort® exhibited innovative products in the disciplines of knee, hip, and spine and trauma at CAOS 2019.
Shanghai MicroPort Orthopedics MedTech Co., Ltd. (“MicroPort® Orthopedics”) presented in details the product features and technical advantages of Evolution® Medial-Pivot Total Knee Replacement System (“Evolution®”) and Supercapsular Percutaneously Assisted Total Hip Arthroplasty (“SuperPath®”) to the healthcare professionals through product displays, live cases and instrument demonstrations. Two innovative spine and trauma products, ARBORES® Percutaneous Vertebroplasty System and Trailwalker™ Proximal Femoral Nail Antirotation (PFNA), were also displayed. As one of the world-famous knee implants, the EVOLUTION® has achieved over 600,000 cases globally. According to a long-term clinical and imaging study evaluating the Medial-Picot Knee system, which was published in the journal Knee, the MicroPort® Orthopedics Medial-Pivot Knee system has demonstrated excellent implant survivorship (98.8%) and patient satisfaction (95%) at 17 years. As the world's first minimally invasive hip replacement technique featuring fast recovery, SuperPATH® uses incisions measuring 6-8 centimeters to perform hip replacement. It avoids the cutting of four to five tendons around hips in conventional procedures and preserves the most possible soft tissues to significantly improve the post-operative early-stage effectiveness and satisfaction of patients. The patients are able to get back to their feet as soon as 30 minutes after surgeries.
Suzhou MicroPort Joint MedTech Co., Ltd. (“MicroPort® Joint”) presented the SoSuperior™ and Aspiration™ Medial-Stabilized Total Knee Replacement Systems, which attracted extensive attention from the healthcare professionals in attendance. As the first Chinese-made Medial-Stabilized Total Knee Replacement Systems winning marketing approvals in China and boasting independent intellectual property, the design rationale of the two products stems from the unique Medial-Pivot Knee of MicroPort® Orthopedics. They adopt a highly bionic Medial-Stabilized ball-in-socket design, with the implant’s metal parts (the distal femoral component and tibial base) made of cobalt-chromium-molybdenum alloy and the highly-bionic inserts made of ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene. The raw materials, whose safety has been proved after decades of clinical practice, are mainstream in the knee implant market. The Medial-Stabilized Total Knee Replacement System not only provides a wider range of joint motion and more reliable wear resistance, but also restores the kinematics of normal knees and maintains their stability in motion, which makes the post-operative kinematic features and patients’ gaits more natural to rid them of feeling on unsteady footing, achieve ‘forgotten knees’, and further boost their satisfaction.
During CAOS 2019, many a senior orthopedic expert visited the MicroPort® booth to have in-depth discussions on product development and market exploration. MicroPort® will also further enhance communication and exchanges with doctors and pay close attention to the clinical needs and suggestions from the clinicians on the scientific platforms like CAOS 2019, to continuously improve and optimize product performance, release more high-quality and high-end orthopedic products and services to the market, and provide patients with more comprehensive therapeutic solutions for orthopedic diseases.
