Nanjing, China – From February 17 to February 19, Shanghai MicroPort EP MedTech Co., Ltd. ("MicroPort® EP") attended the 9th Ventricular Arrhythmia Symposium ("VAS-CHINA") in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province. The congress was sponsored by Chinese Society of Pacing and Electrophysiology, the Heart Rhythm Special Committee of Chinese Medical Doctor Association and the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University, and organized by Asia Pacific Heart Rhythm Society. Domestic and International experts were invited for academic exchange on hot topics of the ventricular arrhythmias field.
During the congress, MicroPort® EP hosted a satellite meeting "Columbus™: Navigation for the Heart," which was well received by experts in attendance. The satellite meeting was co-chaired by Professor Wenqing Zhu of Zhongshan Hospital of Fudan University, Professor Qiangsun Zheng of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University, Professor Dongping Fang of Beijing Anzhen Hospital of Capital Medical University and Professor Jiangui He of the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University. The venue was fully packed. Professor Dongping Fang delivered the opening speech, followed by several well-prepared presentations. Director Huanqin Xu of Hainan Agricultural Reclamation Hospital introduced the techniques of radiofrequency ablation in treating ventricular premature contraction with the help of Columbus™ 3D EP Navigation System ("Columbus™") by case studies and shared his experience in using Columbus™ to effectively complete 41 radiofrequency ablation cases in three month thanks to Columbus™'s stable performance and precise positioning. Afterwards, Director Xudong Song of Zhujiang Hospital of Southern Medical University, Professor Zhiyu Ling of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University and Director Feng Ze of Peking University People's Hospital explained the diagnosis and treatment techniques of various kinds of supraventricular tachycardia from different angles, but all in simple terms and by means of case illustrations. Professor Wenqing Zhu said:" The launch of Columbus™ will have a profound influence in China's electrophysiology industry."
After the satellite meeting, many attendees who learnt about Columbus™ for the first time came to MicroPort® EP booth to try out the system for stimulating Real-time Mapping, and were impressed by its smooth operation so that they all showed interest in future cooperation. Meanwhile, Professor Yuehui Yin of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University and MicroPort® EP President Dr. Yiyong Sun had hot discussions on the current situation of China's electrophysiology industry and the cutting-edge technologies of cardiac radiofrequency ablation, which offers guidance for MicroPort® EP's future development.
"It is Columbus™'s debut in a national-level arrhythmia conference after its launch in China in 2016, and it is expected that the satellite meeting would have helped increase its awareness in China," said Dr. Yiyong Sun. "Columbus™'s stability and safety have been highly recognized by many domestic and international electrophysiology professionals. We believe the product will bring benefit to an increasingly more arrhythmia patients."
