Zhengzhou, China, November 27, 2020 — MicroPort® NeuroTech recently participated in the 3rd Shaolin International Neurosurgical Conference, part of the 6th Central China Cerebrovascular Disease Forum, to unveil its NUMEN™ Coil Embolization System (“NUMEN™”). Held from November 6-8, MicroPort® NeuroTech joined leading experts in putting together a series of “academic feasts” on neurointerventional surgery.
During the unveiling, Mr. Zhang Jiwei of the Hemorrhagic cerebrovascular disease Strategy Center of MicroPort® NeuroTech highlighted the ultra-fine primary wires and the single strand anti-unwinding coil design, commenting that it “provides high flexibility at small coil sizes and low aneurysm wall pressure.” The NUMEN™ Coil, for the treatment of cerebral aneurysms (also known as brain aneurysms), features a unique tri-modal Ω+S configuration that ensures a balance between flexibility and stability within aneurysm filling.
In his thematic presentation titled “The design and performance features of the NUMEN™ coil”, Mr. Zhang Jiwei of the Hemorrhagic cerebrovascular disease Strategy Center of MicroPort® NeuroTech introduced the product performance and design features of the NUMEN™ Coil, which features a unique tri-modal Ω+S configuration that ensures a balance between flexibility and stability within aneurysm filling. In addition, the ultra-fine primary wires and the single strand anti-unwinding coil design provide high flexibility at small coil sizes and low aneurysm wall pressure.
The “CATCH clinical research results and clinical applications”, Case study of NUMEN™ application at Henan Provincial Hospital”, and “NUMEN™ clinical application experience sharing”, were presented by Prof. Chen Hu from Tangdu Hospital, Fourth Military Medical University, Prof. Li Li from Henan Provincial People's Hospital and Prof. Guo Xinbin from the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University, respectively. The professors fully acknowledged the performance of NUMEN™, particularly its flexibility, stability and embolic effect. In the discussion session, Prof. Guan Sheng from the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University also highly evaluated NUMEN™ for its superior performance in the treatment of aneurysms based on his clinical experience.
In his remarks, Prof. Li Tianxiao of Henan Provincial People's Hospital extended his congratulations to MicroPort® NeuroTech on the launch NUMEN™. According to Prof. Li, neurointerventional surgery has been developing rapidly in Henan Province over recent years. The perfection of hardware and software infrastructures and the enhancement of aneurysm treatment techniques could not have been possible without the efforts of experts and the cooperation of primary hospitals, he added. Prof. Li looked forward to seeing more clinical applications of domestically manufactured neurointerventional devices, that provide safer, more convenient and more effective alternatives for doctors’ treatment solutions.
During the event, Prof. Shao Qiuqiu from Henan Provincial People’s Hospital fully recognized the stable performance of NUMEN™ in complex aneurysm applications, acknowledging its excellent flexibility, superior basket formation (allowing for even placement and stable filling within the aneurysm body). He noted, minimal “kick-back” effects, which could reduce the risk of the catheter falling out from the aneurysm-carrying artery, and improve the safety of surgeries.
