Guangzhou, China – On May 12, Suzhou MicroPort OrthoRecon Co., Ltd. ("MicroPort® OrthoRecon") attended the 10th Annual Meeting of Chinese Association of Orthpaedic Surgeons ("CAOS") and invited several orthopedic experts specialized in minimally invasive technology to discuss the development of minimally invasive technology as well as share their experience in minimally invasive surgeries.
In the forum, Director Yanguo Qin of the Second Hospital of Jilin University shared how minimally invasive approach improves the surgical safety for patients. He pointed out that it is much difficult in DAA surgery to broach the femoral canal, which will impact patient's postoperative instability owing to the release of the proximal femoral surrounding soft tissue. Dr. Chuan He of Shanghai Ruijin Hospital compared three commonly used minimally invasive hip replacement surgical techniques - SuperPath™, DAA and MIS PA and pointed out that SuperPath™ technique has small incision and causes minimum damage among them all. Unlike other minimally invasive techniques, SuperPath™ can also be used in fat and big patients with larger indications, and SuperPath™ can work with different types of femur stems. Dr. He also shared the large-sample three-month follow-up data based on his patients which showed SuperPath™ has superior results compared to traditional surgical techniques in reducing pain, improving joint function and early ambulation. Dr. He said, the most competitive advantages of SuperPath™ lies in "fallback technique." Surgeons can switch to the mini-incision approach or even the traditional posterolateral approach from SuperPath™ without changing the patient's position during their operations, which largely reduces the surgical risk and improves efficacy.
During the meeting, Director Pei Yang of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University and Director Yunsu Chen of Shanghai Sixth People's Hospital of Shanghai Jiao Tong University respectively shared their clinical experience in using SuperPath™. Specifically, they introduced the difficulties surgeons may encounter in dealing with acetabulum and femur, and offered solutions to the problems based on their experience, to help more surgeons understand and master the key points of SuperPath™ surgical technique.
