Beijing, China – Shanghai MicroPort Medical (Group) Co., Ltd. ("MicroPort®") was granted the Annual PMO (Project Management Office) Award and Project Management Award Finalist by PMI (Project Management Institute) on the PMI (China) Congress 2016 held from October 22 to October 23 in China National Convention Center in Beijing. It is the first time for MicroPort® to participate in the PMI award selection.
Themed on "Project Management – Embracing China Opportunity," the PMI (China) Congress 2016 aims to drive the global development of project management theory and practice, build the most valuable project management communication platform in Asia-Pacific, as well as improve organizational performance through project management adoption. During the congress, PMI (China) hosted the award ceremony for project management awards and PMO awards. MicroPort® was granted the "Annual PMO Award of the 2016 PMI (China) Project Management Award", and the project of Firehawk® Rapamycin Target Eluting Coronary Stent ("Firehawk®") was granted the "Finalist of the 2016 PMI (China) Project Management Award."
In the congress, MicroPort® in-house developed PMO-Online Project Management System caught wide attention from the attendees. Through establishing platforms of information releasing, project operation monitoring, as well as resource and demand integration, it guarantees that the long-term strategic planning of pre-research projects, the real-time monitoring of projects under research, and the product tracking and unmarketable product management of products that have come into market will be carried forward effectively and orderly in uniform processes.
The two awards MicroPort® won in the PMI (China) Congress 2016 mean its project management skill and experience are fully recognized by professionals. MicroPort® creates its own way of market-driven, target-oriented project management since common project management practices fail to apply in its mass research projects with great technological difficulties, strict industry supervision, as well as long and complex project cycle. Such innovative project management will help carry out MicroPort®'s product development strategies and advance various kinds of research projects, so as to offer better solutions to patients.
PMI, one of the world's largest not-for-profit membership associations for the project management profession, has been administering the project management awards in China since 2010 to promote the development of the best project management adopters in China and honor the enterprises and projects that stand out for their project management profession. During the award selection process that usually lasts for four to five months, the jury committee will review the material submitted by eligible companies and gain insights into the enterprises and projects through field inspection and oral defense. Up to date, the awards have been given to 26 domestic and international projects and 15 project management offices of over 20 Chinese enterprises including Huawei, ZTE and China National Petroleum Corporation.
